Variety: Chrysopogon zizanioides (L.)

A good perfumer needs one great vetiver oil. This is it; this is the vetiver of renown.

From the very first sniff you will recognise this oil from such masterpieces as Guerlain's Vetiver (2000) and Jean Claude Ellena's Terre D'Hermes (2007) for Hermes.

We refer to this oil as “Bourbon” oil as it is the closest product to the near-mythical vetiver of the golden age, now no longer produced in La Reunion (formerly Île Bourbon) but sourced on the neighbouring island of Madagascar. This is not a blend or derivative product — it is 100% pure and natural vetiver goodness from Biolandes.

Wonderful effects can be achieved with this oil by blending it with our incredible Vetiverol ex Vetiver Haiti.

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.

All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.

Permitted amounts in finished product:

IFRA 51: Unrestricted
IFRA 49: Unrestricted

These are derived from calculated concentrations which do not replace chromatographic quantification on individual lots. Disclaimer...

Our products are intended as building blocks in the perfume creation process; they are not to be applied to the skin undiluted.

These raw materials are for use by the perfumery trade only.

Wonderful

I very rich and well rounded Vetiver, but I see a lot of similarities with the plant therapy Vetiver, but this is more rounded and complex.

Best vetiver

It’s the best vetiver I’ve smelled so far

Sebastian

It‘s beautiful smoked ham note, presumably typical for vetiver of Reunion and it‘s substantivity making the difference.

Rooty and vegetal

This has a comparable to smokiness to the For Life LMR vetiver Haiti, though slightly less fresh at the top. It has a beautiful rooty, vegetal character which pairs very naturally with materials like carrot seed oil and orris like materials. It is my preferred vetiver oil in terms of profile but of course, one needs every kind in one's palette.
