Cascarilla bark oil is a wonderful spicy oil extracted from the bark of the croton eluteria tree. Most production of the oil takes place in the Bahamas. Our cascarilla is a delight to the senses with an odour profile that walks the line between nutmeg, black pepper and ginger. Deceptively powerful, cascarilla is perceptible at less than 1% of a fragrance.
Cascarilla is part of the secret formula for Campari, the wonderful Italian liquor, and featured in the classic Coty fragrance, L'Origan.
Origin: Commonwealth of the Bahamas, Guatemala, or El Salvador

Cascarilla Bark Oil P&N, An Indepth Look:
This oil is steam distilled from the dried bark of Croton Eluteria and possibly other Croton species, small tress which grow in the West Indies, probably originally from the Bahama Islands. […] The bark is dried and freed from any adherent sapwood or heartwood, but it is not distilled locally.Cascarilla Oil is a pale yellow to greenish-yellow or dark amber colored liquid of strong spicy-aromatic, warm-woody, slightly peppery odor reminiscent of nutmeg, myrtle, melaleuca alternifolia, hyssop and other spices or culinary herbs. Its topnote is not exactly pleasant, but the unusual diffusiveness and power of this oil places it among the “trace” components in perfumes.
The very complex note of spiciness and thw warm, woody undertone has intrigued many perfumers to use Cascarilla Oil in high-class perfumes. It was even claimed that “l'origan” contained this oil as of the “key” materials[…]. But the oil does present interesting notes in chypre base, “tabac”-types, Oriental perfumes, “men‘s” fragrances, fantasy colognes, etc. It blends well with nutmeg, pepper, pimento berry oil, sage oil dalmatian, oakmoss products, quinolines, cedrenol, coumarin, etc. Its power is often underestimated.
