In the golden age of perfumery the most sought after clovebuds were those of Zanzibar, hand plucked in the beating African sun on plantations owned by the Sultan. The sultan is now exiled and the global demand is mostly met by Madagascar. But many Zanzibar families still make a living harvesting the buds of wild trees by hand.

Fraterworks imports these superior cloves from Zanzibar and tinctures them with care using the classical cold alcohol method. Our tincturing process uses the finest odourless food grade alcohol only. Absolutely no synthetic plasticisers, denaturants or diluents are used, resulting in a totally natural product by ISO 9235 standards. This is the gold standard of clove extracts and every care has been taken to ensure consistent excellence in every drop.

Tincture of cloves has a smoother and sweeter fragrance than the essential oil now commonly found. It also has the power to soften the oil when used in combination with it.

    General Information

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.

All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.

    IFRA Standards

    Permitted amounts in finished product:

    IFRA 51: 100%
    IFRA 49: 100%

These are derived from calculated concentrations which do not replace chromatographic quantification on individual lots. Disclaimer...

    For Trade Use Only

Our products are intended as building blocks in the perfume creation process; they are not to be applied to the skin undiluted.

These raw materials are for use by the perfumery trade only.
