Manufacturer: The scent of a misty Japanese forest after rainfall. Serene, grounding, and purifying. A delight. Soft resinous facet—not pungent like pine or fir.

    Essential Oils

    CAS: 91745-97-0
Variety: Chamaecyparis obtusa (Siebold & Zucc.) Endl.

The scent of Shinto shrines, Buddhist temples and palaces in Japan, Hinoki Wood is a type of cypress with a distinctive top note character with a rounded camphoraceous quality. It is softer than pine and fir oil and has a very lovely smoky and leathery facet.

It would be ideal in a forest based scent or a fantasy fresh fragrance and would be very interesting with Dihydromyrcenol as the main part of a modern top note accord.

IFRA: Hinoki Wood has no limitations under IFRA however LMR undertakes internal testing and they use that testing when they produce their “IFRA” documents. Consequently while LMR says the limit is 0.02% in this product, that is not the IFRA limit. This is a quirk of LMR. We supply their IFRA document as a matter of reference only.

Hinoki wood oil blends with Bouleau Pyrogene 1840, Apo Patchone Coeur, Royal Leather, Pineapple Supreme, and Oud Intense.

    Country of Origin: Japan

IFRA 51: No restriction for category 4
Average Use: 3% in a perfume compound

    Appearance: Pale straw liquid
Longevity: Lasts > 240 hours on a smelling strip

Fraterworks® is strictly a reseller of this product and is neither an agent nor official distributor for LMR.

    General Information

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.

All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.

    IFRA Standards

    Permitted amounts in finished product:

    IFRA 51: 100%

These are derived from calculated concentrations which do not replace chromatographic quantification on individual lots. Disclaimer...

    For Trade Use Only

Our products are intended as building blocks in the perfume creation process; they are not to be applied to the skin undiluted.

I got this Hinoki oil so I could compare it with one I already had... This one took me to my childhood when my mom was taking me to work in a museum that was a part of a monastery. Stone and wooden floors, wooden paneling, tall arched ceilings, old wooden devices and sculptures... Something about the space smells like this oil. In terms of the scent profile, it is somewhat cool forest-like, pine-like, smooth and calming. It is softer and more transparent than the one I already had, which has a very full, cedar-like wooden body with that hinoki cool/green twist. I am already attached to that one (because of a specific project). But this one from Fraterworks has fresher and more elegant character.
