    Iralia® is the very pinnacle of Firmenich perfection in methyl ionone products. It was first synthesised at the turn of the 20th century alongside Cyclosia®, the finest quality of hydroxycitronellal which we also stock.

    Iralia's first use, and perhaps still its finest, was as a 25% overdose in L'Origan (1908) by Coty where it couples with Dianthine, the famed De Laire carnation base. The complete original formula can be found below.

    General Information

    Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.

    All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.

    What is this?

    The richest, most floral of all qualities of methylionones with a strong orris, violet character and a slight fruity note. Floral, Powdery, Woody.

    An indispensable element in all high quality perfumes whatever their tonality: flowery, woody, chypre, oriental...It gives them radiance and great elegance.

    Iralia® is used at a concentration varying from 1 to 10% and, in certain cases, up to 20 - 25%.

    Refinement in a Bottle

    I was nostalgic for the quality of old perfumes but afraid of the vintage market, and happened upon this site. I am working my way through the Demo formulas and, though they are not meant to be exact replicas, the results have surpassed my expectations. The exercise is bothe teaching me about formula construction, historical trends, and giving me beautiful perfumes to wear. Iralia gives that elegance characteristic of the classic Guerlains and Chanels. A lovely powdery, woody iris!
