Orris Givco is a modern Givaudan base for contributing orris notes to a fragrance. It was designed to mimic orris absolute and orris butter but in reality it is brighter and more radiant than both. The steady reduction in natural orris materials in the base over time (due to cost) means that it can benefit from the addition of small amounts of natural iris butter or resinoid (Germanica or Pallida) also.
If you are looking for a richer and more luxurious alternative we recommend the great Orrisodore which featured in Jacques Fath's famous Iris Gris (1946, Vincent Roubert — download formula) and Paco Rabanne's Calandre (1969, Michael Hy).

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
