Javanol opens with rich, creamy sandalwood that immediately announces its exceptional quality. Rosy-floral facets emerge alongside subtle milky-lactonic undertones, creating complexity that rivals natural East Indian sandalwood. The clean, powdery character feels refined rather than heavy, while the radiant projection seems almost impossible given its base note weight.
This Givaudan molecule represents the pinnacle of sandalwood chemistry. Discovered in 1996, Javanol achieves what many consider the closest synthetic approximation to natural beta-santalol—the principal odour-active component in precious East Indian sandalwood oil. The 400-hour substantivity on blotter translates to extraordinary real-world performance, and its odour threshold makes it approximately 400 times more potent than comparable sandalwood synthetics.
Work with Javanol at 0.5–2% of your concentrate—its power means a little goes remarkably far. Even at trace levels of 0.02–0.1%, it functions as a radiance booster that lifts entire compositions. Blend with vetiver, patchouli, rose absolute, Iso E Super, and cashmeran for sophisticated woody accords.

General Information
Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
