This is our exclusive deluxe formula for Chanel's Bois Noir (1987) the first public release of what was to become Égoïste just a few years later. When first released Bois Noir didn't sell well so Chanel removed it from the shelves. It eventually found its way back to the public with a few fairly minor tweaks for simplicity. Bottles of Bois Noir are so rare they currently sell in the $2,000 range when they come up on eBay.
When comparing this to the Égoïste Cologne Concentrée the Bois Noir has a softer and more velvet dry down most likely coming from the broader range of musks which were removed in favour of just 0.5% Musk Ambrette in the Égoïste family.
This demonstration formula was derived some inside knowledge and multiple GCMS analyses of a pristine bottle owned by Fraterworks. Comparisons were also made with Égoïste Cologne Concentrée and vintage Ëgoïste.
Top Notes: Bergamot, Rosewood, Green Mandarin, Grapefruit, Lemon, Plum, Anise, Cinnamon
Heart Notes: Lavender, Coriander, Ylang Ylang, Carnation, Geranium Bourbon, Thyme, Tagetes Minuta
Base Notes: Sandalwood Mysore, Amber, Leather, Musk, Labdanum, Myrrh, Tobacco, Castoreum
