When people talk of vetiver they usually think of Madagascar (the source of the near mythical Bourbon type), Indonesia (Java usually), and Haiti. But perhaps the best kept secret for speciality vetiver oils is South India (pictured).
On the sandy coast of South India, Vetiver has long been grown not just for its treasured scent but also for religious and medicinal uses. One of the leading suppliers from the region is TMV Aromas, established in 1958 and holding many prestigious awards for the quality of their natural Indian origin extracts. TMV is our supplier of choice for this material.
Vetiver Oil, South India smells as all vetiver oils should, but with the added richness of baked earth and saltiness from the myriad sandy beaches facing distant Ceylon.

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
