    Known to most of us as trimmed and shaped hedges à la Edward Scissorhands, living Boxtree (buxus) has a characteristic grimalkin scent not dissimilar to an odour exhibited by some black currant extractions. MANE's boxtree absolute does not have that urinous note, instead being primarily woody with complex moss and iodine nuances. It also has a very unique fruity character in the opening which hints at the scent of cooked ripe bananas.

    Boxtree absolute is an interesting material to use when considering one's options for replacing highly restricted oakmoss and tree moss absolutes. It is intensely green and in its normal form a solid mass similar to very high quality pure castoreum absolute. For that reason we supply it at 50% dilution in natural triethyl citrate, making it possible to use it in all natural perfumes.

    General Information

    Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.

    All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.

    Not something you encounter easily.

    This is an amazing material! I compared this side by side with oakmoss absolute it is definitely on a elegant side, the strong fungus, dark, smokey, decaying smell of oakmoss is not detectable, all it's left is its versatility and I smell honey! like Jamie said, I can imagine it in gourmands, amber. etc.. Can't wait to try..
