First sniff is pure eucalyptus — sharp, clearing, bracing. Underneath sits a quiet sweet-spicy warmth and herbaceous softness that eucalyptus itself never delivers. This is Thymus mastichina, a Spanish thyme carrying the name "marjoram" for centuries despite sharing nothing with it.
Use it sparingly where you need bracing herbal freshness without eucalyptus oil's one-dimensional quality. A few drops lift a fougère or cologne, adding sun-baked Mediterranean garrigue character. Pair with lavender, rosemary, and cypress for scrubland accords — but measure in drops, not millilitres.
Fraterworks also stocks Sweet Marjoram Oil (Origanum majorana), which is a completely different plant — warm, nutmeg-scented, and gently spicy where this oil is clearing and camphoraceous. Despite the shared name, they are never interchangeable. Treat them as entirely unrelated materials.

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
