Synonyms: Raspberry Ketone Methyl Ether Classification: Base Note[i]
Anisyl Acetone opens with an immediate burst of intense sweetness—ripe raspberries crushed with cherries, but this isn't simple fruitiness. The material quickly reveals sophisticated floral facets reminiscent of mimosa and cassie absolute, creating a powdery-sweet effect that bridges fruit and flower. This remarkable complexity extends to subtle anise and licorice notes that link to its "Anisyl" heritage, while woody-balsamic undertones add unexpected depth to what might otherwise be a purely sweet material.
Utilise Anisyl Acetone strategically in accords where you need fruity sweetness with floral sophistication. In Oriental bases, it provides essential berry-sweet facets that prevent heavy ambers from becoming cloying—use at 0.5-2% to add lift without overwhelming warmth. For sweet floral accords, it excels as a Heliotropin modifier, offering similar powdery sweetness without the discolouration issues that plague many formulations. In Fougère structures, small amounts (0.1-0.5%) sweeten harsh aromatic notes while maintaining masculine sophistication. Its true genius emerges in raspberry and cherry accords where it provides authentic fruit character with unusual persistence.
Anisyl Acetone finds its most sophisticated applications in complex bases where its multifaceted nature truly shines. In vanilla accords, it contributes essential fruity complexity that prevents flat sweetness—combine with Vanillin and Ethyl Vanillin at 2-3% for three-dimensional warmth. For licorice compositions, its natural anise facet creates seamless bridges between star anise and sweet base notes. In modern Oriental bases, layer it with benzoin and labdanum where its raspberry-mimosa character adds contemporary freshness to traditional warmth. The material's exceptional stability in alkaline conditions makes it invaluable for functional perfumery, maintaining its character in challenging soap and detergent bases where many fruity materials fail.
The “Anisic” Family
Understanding the anise family quartet clarifies each material's unique role: Anisic Aldehyde (p-Anisaldehyde) delivers the most intense powdery-almond character with pronounced mimosa and baby powder associations—sharp and aldehydic. Anisyl Acetate broadens the palette with complex fruity-floral notes, adding plum, raspberry, and narcotic sweetness alongside its floral core. Anisyl Acetone focuses on fruity aspects, particularly dried raspberry and cherry, making it ideal for fruit-forward compositions. Anisyl Alcohol, as the reduced form, offers the gentlest profile—less sharp than the aldehyde, less fruity than the acetate or acetone, but unmatched in its creamy-powdery sophistication and stability. Each serves distinct purposes: the aldehyde for impact, the acetate for complexity, the acetone for fruitiness, and the alcohol for soft stability.

General Information
General Information
Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
