Synonyms: Benzyl Phenyl Acetate Classification: Base Note[i]
Benzyl phenylacetate opens with an immediate impression of golden honey—not the simple sweetness of sugar, but the complex, animalic warmth of genuine honey complete with waxy, slightly fermented nuances. This honeyed sweetness is seamlessly interwoven with lush white floral notes, particularly jasmine and rose, creating an effect reminiscent of flowers drizzled with honey. Subtle cocoa undertones emerge as the material develops, adding depth and preventing the sweetness from becoming cloying. Found naturally in the fragrant champaca tree, this material bridges the gap between edible gourmand notes and sophisticated florals with remarkable grace.
Use Benzyl phenylacetate at 0.5-5% when you need authentic honey effects with floral sophistication. Its unique profile makes it invaluable for creating realistic honey accords that transcend simple sweetness—think honeycomb rather than honey water. In white floral compositions, it adds a warm, sweet dimension that enhances jasmine and rose without overwhelming their delicate character. The material excels in oriental fragrances where its honey-cocoa facets complement resins and balsams beautifully. Use it to add gourmand appeal to abstract compositions or to create the illusion of natural sweetness in tobacco and leather accords. Its excellent blending properties allow it to smooth harsh edges while contributing its distinctive honey-floral signature.
The Difference A Phenyl Makes
The structural difference between Benzyl phenylacetate and Benzyl acetate profoundly impacts their olfactory character and application. Benzyl acetate delivers a bright, thin, sweet-fruity jasmine with pear-banana nuances and moderate tenacity; Benzyl phenylacetate provides a rich, warm honey-floral with cocoa depth and superior longevity. The additional phenyl group in Benzyl phenylacetate creates dramatically different effects: where Benzyl acetate is light and ethereal, Benzyl phenylacetate is dense and enveloping. Benzyl acetate functions primarily as a top-to-middle note modifier, adding lift and brightness to florals; Benzyl phenylacetate serves as a middle-to-base note, providing warmth, sweetness, and fixation. Choose Benzyl acetate for fresh, light jasmine effects and fruity lift; select Benzyl phenylacetate for honey sweetness, gourmand depth, and when you need a richer, more persistent floral-sweet presence.

General Information
General Information
Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
