    CAS: 72089-08-8 Classification: Base Note[i]

Brahmanol smells of rich, creamy sandalwood with a warm musky glow underneath — soft, enveloping, and remarkably close to santalol, the heart of natural Mysore oil. It lacks the delicate floral top of the real thing, but that creamy, skin-like warmth is unmistakable, and a touch of hindinol can be used to fill that gap. Brahmanol lasts over 400 hours on a blotter.

Use it as the foundation of sandalwood accords, either alone at high concentrations or blended with other sandalwood materials for a more complete picture. It adds creamy depth to floral compositions — tuberose, jasmine, and ylang-ylang all benefit from its warm, musky support. It is one of the most versatile and underrated sandalwood materials available.

Where it sits in the sandalwood basic synthetics family matters. Sandalore is the most widely used replacer — sweet, creamy, powerful, with a slightly synthetic edge at high doses. Sandela is drier and more transparent, a background contributor. Ebanol is the most powerful of the group, rich and milky-sweet with a buttery maple quality. Bacdanol splits the difference between creamy and rosy, with a distinctive milky sweetness. Brahmanol is none of these. It is more musky and less floral than the natural oil, more restrained than Ebanol, warmer than Sandela, and less overtly sweet than Sandalore. Think of it as the workhorse sandalwood — reliable, tenacious, and honest. Hindinol, Polysantol, Firsantol and Javanol pack the power of the bunch and, so, are typically used in smaller amounts.

    General Information

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.

All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.

    IFRA Standards
