Furfural 5% DPG opens with sweet woody-almond character—warm, inviting, and immediately evocative of fresh-baked bread. The caramellic undertone adds depth, while a bitter coffee nuance provides sophistication. This furan aldehyde smells remarkably natural and food-like, bridging almond, bread crust, and roasted coffee in a single molecule.
In compositions, furfural acts as the bridge between sweet vanillic notes and dry woody bases. You'll find it indispensable for creating authentic bakery accords where it provides the toasted crust against creamy vanilla interiors. Pair it with pyrazines to amplify nutty roasted facets, or use it to "brown" overly sweet gourmand blends that need grounding.
When you need that unmistakable scent of Maillard browning—whether for coffee, whiskey, or pastry effects—this family of materials delivers the heat-treated authenticity other materials can't match. Use it sparingly; its potency easily dominates when overdosed.
Important: the pure material has an extremely restrictive IFRA allowance of 0.001% of your finished perfume. We sell it at 5% which has an IFRA 51 and 52 level of 0.02%.

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
