Of the myriad absolutes of genet (aka broom), this is the finest Italian product. It is the highest quality genet on the market today, being produced by one of the top suppliers of high end naturals from Grasse.

Genet absolute is one of the most treasured of all the naturals, imparting a warmth and sweetness that naturalises and enriches a wide range of fragrances. Traces add interest and complexity, while larger doses add an incredibly luxurious and rich nuance of verdant fields and rolling green hills stretching far into the horizon. Blends of genet with tuberose and other floral absolutes are out of this world.

Because genet absolute is so thick, we supply it at 50% dilution in Triethyl Citrate Natural making it ISO 9235 compliant.

    Origin: Italy
    Part: Flowers
    Method: Solvent extraction

    Appearance: Thick yellow paste
Longevity: Lasts 48 hours on a smelling strip

    General Information

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.

All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.

Genet “Signature” Absolute, An Indepth Look:

The perfumer's “absolue de genêt”, or Broom Absolute, is extracted from the so-called Spanish Broom, Spartium Junceum. The small decorative shrub grows wild (and is also cultivated) in the south of France, Spain, and Italy. Production of broom absolute from petroleum ether concrète is almost exclusively carried out in the Grasse area in France.

Broom absolute is [a] dark brown, semi-solid or viscous liquid, with an intensely sweet, floral-haylike fragrance. The deep herbaceous-coumarinic background has great tenacity. The honey-rose notes are particularly useful in certain types of rose bases, tuberose, cassie, mimosa, violet, honeysuckle, etc. It blends excellently with ionones, vetiver, castoreum, etc. in “tabac” notes, and it is generally useful in modern aldehydic perfume types, green notes, etc.

[Despite the coumarinic note, Broom absolute contains mere traces of coumarin and is mainly composed of a variety of acids. -- J. Frater]
