Once again V. MANE Fils hits a home run with this marvellous and unusual floral absolute. Gnidia has one of the highest amounts of natural maltol and it is very obvious. With an odour somewhat resembling stewed bananas, flowers and brown sugar this is a truly novel material for perfumer's who seek something extraordinary.

According to MANE, “The multifaceted scent of the flowers unveils notes of narcissus, violet, cucumber, tea, and tuberose. The extract contains natural maltol, which brings a note of delicious sweetness.” The Gnidia flowers are hand picked by two associations of women living in Madagascar.

We offer this incredible product from V. MANE Fils at 10% dilution in pure and natural Triethyl Citrate (an odourless isolate from citrus) or pure. Undiluted the material has a thick paste-like consistency that requires warmth to liquify.

    Origin: Madagascar
    Part: Flowers
    Method: Solvent extraction

Fraterworks® is strictly a reseller of this product and is neither an agent nor official distributor for Mane.

    General Information

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.

All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.

    IFRA Standards

    Permitted amounts in finished product:

    IFRA 51: 100%

These are derived from calculated concentrations which do not replace chromatographic quantification on individual lots. Disclaimer...

    For Trade Use Only

Our products are intended as building blocks in the perfume creation process; they are not to be applied to the skin undiluted.

These raw materials are for use by the perfumery trade only.

    Exciting possibilities

Ooh, my goodness! Never smelled anything like this before. Novel certainly, challenging maybe, but some very exciting possibilities here. The first impression was of something in the kitchen - something savory like roasted green peppers, not altogether pleasant, but becoming more floral.

I was reminded of a perfume called Mal-Aime, created "in praise of weeds" by Parfum d'Empire in Corsica. Mal-Aime, meaning 'unloved', celebrates the scent of commonplace plants found around the Mediterranean coast and mostly ignored by perfumers. I bought a bottle, of course.

A Gnidia fragrance could showcase this little known and unfeted flower in the same way, making a refreshing change from the usual rose and jasmine.

The banana aspect - very perceptible - is a bonus. This note has appeared in the topnote of some prestigious and successful launches recently, such as those of Hermes.

I would welcome any suggestions for using this intriguing and original material - perhaps as a modifier of jonquil, violet or ylang?
