Triethyl citrate is a wonderful natural (US & EU) diluent for perfumery. It is naturally extracted with pure food grade alcohol from citric acid from citrus fruit. Triethyl Citrate (TEC) has no odour and allows for dilutions of natural materials that maintain an ISO 9235 standard.

TEC is particularly good as a diluent for rose materials and bases and it is widely used in the fragrance industry in both synthetic and natural versions.

TEC has excellent solubility in alcohol as well as fractionated coconut oil. It also solubilises in jojoba oil but may cause slight cloudiness. Always perform a small test to ensure compatibility as solubility can vary from medium to medium and depends upon the overall blend of materials in play.

Warning: This is a raw material for the manufacture of perfumes. Do not consume. Do not apply directly to skin. Keep out of reach of children.

Fraterworks® is strictly a reseller of this product and is neither an agent nor official distributor for Bestally.

    General Information

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.

All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.

    IFRA Standards

    Permitted amounts in finished product:

    IFRA 51: 100%
    IFRA 49: 100%

These are derived from calculated concentrations which do not replace chromatographic quantification on individual lots. Disclaimer...

    For Trade Use Only

Our products are intended as building blocks in the perfume creation process; they are not to be applied to the skin undiluted.

These raw materials are for use by the perfumery trade only.

    Trying This

I bought this as Karen Gilbert uses this as a base in her perfumes.
I tried diluting Genet Abs (from fresh flowers). It didn’t completely dissolve it, but neither did SDA 40B or BB. The TEC however did a better job than the BB or alcohol of keeping particles in suspension. I am using it in small amounts to lessen the alcohol odour in a base.
