Osmanthe sur Gurjun is a co-distillation — osmanthus flowers distilled directly onto gurjun balsam, producing aromatic compounds that neither material creates alone. This is not a blend. When two botanicals are distilled together, heat and steam generate new molecules at the interface, yielding a material with qualities impossible to achieve by simply mixing the finished oils. The result here is osmanthus at its most extravagant: sweet, sticky, overwhelmingly present, with the gurjun providing body and balsamic warmth without ever competing.
The osmanthus dominates from the first moment — ripe apricot, suede, the full multifaceted complexity of the flower in unapologetic expression. Where Payan Bertrand's Fleur de Cuir co-distils osmanthus onto cedarwood for a drier, more restrained effect, our version on gurjun is sweeter, thicker, more lush. The balsamic base acts as a warm platform that amplifies the osmanthus rather than constraining it. The fruit and the leather and the floral facets all come through at once.
Add Ombre d'Iris and you have a complete perfume — practically nothing else needed. The sweet, physical osmanthus against that spectral iris-cedar creates a dialogue between substance and shadow, fruit and ghost. Alternatively, use Osmanthe sur Gurjun beneath tuberose or jasmine to add sticky, apricot-skin warmth that no synthetic can replicate.

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
