This is the workhorse woody fixative that quietly sits in countless fragrances. Use it to give any composition a smooth, long-lasting woody base without the terpenic top notes of cedar essential oils. It excels in fougères, chypres, and leather accords, but works equally well behind florals, where it adds silent structure and tenacity.
Cedryl acetate is one of the most tenacious materials you can buy—over four hundred hours on the blotter. It anchors ambers and orientals with dry woody depth, extends citrus and herbal compositions from below, and rounds out vetiver and sandalwood accords. Liquid vs Crystals
The liquid form contains both cedryl acetate (CAS 77-54-3) and cedrenyl acetate (CAS 1405-92-1)—the result of acetylating a broader cedarwood fraction rather than isolating pure cedrol first. This mixture stays liquid because the two differently shaped molecules cannot pack into a crystal lattice.
The cedrenyl acetate component is softer and slightly greener than its saturated counterpart, rounding out the sharpness and giving the liquid a more complete, living-cedar character. Choose the crystals when you want a bone-dry, precise cedar fixative that will not colour delicate florals or citrus notes. Choose the liquid when you want richer, more versatile woodiness that is easier to handle—no melting required—and delivers a broader, more natural cedar impression.

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
