Dimyrcetol is IFF's proprietary blend of dihydromyrcenyl formate and dihydromyrcenol. The formate is the key component, and it gives Dimyrcetol a fresh, citrus-lime character with herbal and marine facets that broaden the profile beyond straightforward citrus. This is a rare material that most perfumers will not have encountered.
Strip life is modest — under three hours — but that number tells only part of the story. On skin and in the air, Dimyrcetol projects powerfully, with a cool, clean diffusion that carries well beyond what the blotter suggests. That projection is its most distinctive quality.
Bergamot and linalool complement the citrus side naturally. Lavender brings out the cologne character. Hedione, Iso E Super, and white musks all support it in modern accords, while ambroxan in the base adds amber warmth.
Dimyrcetol and dihydromyrcenol are distinct materials that are easily confused. Dihydromyrcenol is the well-known metallic-lime freshness found in Davidoff Cool Water and countless masculine fragrances.
Dimyrcetol is this IFF blend — primarily dihydromyrcenyl formate with some dihydromyrcenol — offering a rounder, more herbal-marine profile with greater projection but shorter blotter life.

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
