Okoumal smells of warm, dry wood wrapped in soft amber and snuff. It is not loud — in fact, some people cannot smell it at all in isolation. But add it to a composition and the effect is unmistakable: warmth, volume, and richness appear from nowhere.
This is one of those rare materials that works by stealth. Use it at low doses to fill out woody and amber bases, adding body and expensive-smelling roundness. It lasts over 420 hours on a blotter — well over a month — making it one of the most tenacious fixatives available. Evaluate it in blends rather than on its own.
Pair it with cedarwood for rich woody depth, with patchouli and vetiver for dark, earthy warmth, or with sandalwood materials for a smooth, enveloping base. A little goes a long way — start at trace levels and build up until you feel its effect on the composition's body.

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
