This is one of the great historic wood oils of perfumery. The warm rosy heart running through the golden age of French fragrance — through Guerlain, Caron, and Chanel — came from this tree. Every synthetic alternative, every reconstruction on the market exists because this material became almost impossible to source. You are looking at the original.
Open the bottle and you understand why nothing replaced it. A sweet, rosy, woody warmth that seems to glow from within — no harshness, no rough edges, just serene floral-wood radiance. The peppery-spicy opening lasts only moments before the oil settles into its true character: luminous, sweet, deeply tenacious. It sits at the exact intersection of wood and flower, belonging fully to neither, and that is precisely what made it irreplaceable.
Use it where nothing else will do. It brings a sweetness to woody compositions that cedarwood and sandalwood cannot, and a woody depth to florals that no flower oil can provide. Pair it with ylang-ylang, bergamot, oakmoss, vetiver, or sandalwood — it makes everything around it more refined. Most perfumers alive today have never worked with the real oil. This is your chance.
CITES
This oil is derived from Aniba rosaeodora, listed under CITES. If you are purchasing for trade you may need a CITES export certificate (check your nation's regulations). We can assist you with that process which is relatively easy. Contact us for more details and costings.
For those who prefer not to use a CITES-listed material, we offer Rosewood Cayenne — our own 90%+ natural reconstruction of Cayenne bois de rose, designed as a one-for-one replacer. We also have Linalool ex Bois de Rose.

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
