Work with pre-diluted solutions (we recommend 1%) due to extreme potency that overwhelms neat evaluation. The alcohol form provides softer, more floral character compared to its aggressive aldehyde counterpart, making it ideal for sophisticated green accords.
You achieve remarkable effects using trace amounts below 0.1% to add dewy naturalness to white florals like muguet and lily. Combine with cis-3-hexenol for initial green snap, then let this material provide sustained watery depth.
Aldehyde-Alcohol Synergies
Trans-2,Cis-6-Nonadienol (alcohol) offers a softer, more floral profile compared to iTrans-2,Cis-6-Nonadienal's (aldehyde) sharp, aggressive character. The alcohol is fractionally more floral than the aldehyde. Perfumers often combine both: the aldehyde provides initial punch while the alcohol lends sustained, rounded body to violet leaf accords. Together with nonadienal, nonadienol creates the complete nostalgic odour of violet gardens. The alcohol's moderate tenacity bridges top notes into the heart, while the aldehyde's extreme diffusivity creates immediate impact. Balance these complementary materials to achieve dimensional green effects impossible with either alone.

All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
