Aurantiol is the most common of the Schiff bases, a product resulting from the chemical reaction of methyl anthranilate with an aldehyde, in this case hydroxycitronellal. While there are many suppliers of Aurantiol (and you can even make it yourself by blending the two key materials in a ratio of roughly 56:44), not all Schiff bases are created equal. Poor quality versions are everywhere — the result of wrong proportions or incomplete (or worse still non-existent) dehydration of the final product. Because the process produces water as a side effect, you will often see inferior qualities which are cloudy and should be avoided.

Our Aurantiol Ultra is produced by Ventos, one of the premiere suppliers and makers of high quality aroma chemicals for over 100 years. It is perfectly dehydrated and has excellent clarity and a fine aroma.

Aurantiol has the distinct scent of orange flowers and honey and it is in those contexts that it is most often used. Our Aurantiol is intensely yellow and very viscous (though easily pourable with a little heat). We offer it pure and in dilution due to its thickness.

Fraterworks® is strictly a reseller of this product and is neither an agent nor official distributor for Ventos.

IFRA 51: 3.7% in finished product (Cat. 4)
    Appearance: Intensely yellow viscous liquid
Longevity: Lasts > 300 hours on a smelling strip.

    General Information

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.

All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.

    IFRA Standards

    Permitted amounts in finished product:

    IFRA 51: 3.7%
    IFRA 49: 3.7%

These are derived from calculated concentrations which do not replace chromatographic quantification on individual lots. Disclaimer...

    For Trade Use Only

Our products are intended as building blocks in the perfume creation process; they are not to be applied to the skin undiluted.

These raw materials are for use by the perfumery trade only.
