The cinnamon-balsamic warmth emerges quickly, while strawberry and cherry facets add intriguing fruitiness. Fresh green basil character remains present but softened, creating a profile that bridges herbal and gourmand territories with surprising grace, lending itself to a potentially modernised gourmand take on the classic Diorella fragrance.
This chemotype represents one of four major basil oil varieties (the others being linalool, methyl chavicol and eugenol/methyl eugenol), distinguished by its high methyl cinnamate content. Cultivated primarily in Bulgaria, Egypt, and Haiti, this basil develops its spicy-sweet character from the same molecule that gives cinnamon its warmth. The linalool content adds familiar basil freshness, while the absence of camphor keeps the profile smooth and approachable.
The fruity-spicy profile blends beautifully with berry notes like blackcurrant and osmanthus for fantasy fruit accords. Use alongside citrus oils for bright, airy herbaceous effects, or with oriental bases where its cinnamon warmth adds natural depth. All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
