    Aroma Chemicals

    CAS: 120-72-9 Classification: Base Note[i]

Indole needs no introductions. It is naphthalenic (think mothballs), unpleasant, extremely powerful and indispensable for most white flower accords but especially Jasmine. In small amounts it is very naturalising as we see in its very clever use at just 0.1% in the original Eau Sauvage (1966) of Edmund Roudnitska.

Indole is sold in powder form and can be added directly to your fragrance compound. If you are looking for something a little easier to manage, we also stock Indolene which combines Indole with Hydroxycitronellal for a more floral and less intense effect. Either way, every perfumer needs indole in their palette.

    Odour Profile

Indole presents a fascinating olfactory paradox—intensely fecal and naphthalenic (mothball-like) at high concentrations, transforming to radiant, narcotic floral notes reminiscent of jasmine and orange blossom when extremely diluted.

    Uses

Essential for authentic white floral reconstructions, adding narcotic depth, warmth, and sensuality to compositions while enhancing diffusion and radiance.

Fraterworks® is strictly a reseller of this product and is neither an agent nor official distributor for Ventos, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

    General Information

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.

All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.

    IFRA Standards

    Permitted amounts in finished product:

    IFRA 51: 100%
    IFRA 49: 100%

These are derived from calculated concentrations which do not replace chromatographic quantification on individual lots. Disclaimer...

    For Trade Use Only

Our products are intended as building blocks in the perfume creation process; they are not to be applied to the skin undiluted.

These raw materials are for use by the perfumery trade only.
