Calone® 1951 was discovered in 1966 by chemists from Camilli, Albert & Laloue a fragrance company founded in 1830 and owned by Coty until 1963. It was an accidental discovery in the process of inventing a new tranquilliser which eventually came to be known as Valium. It was named for the first letter of the company (C, A, L + Ketone). The “1951” relates to the chemical registration number.

Calone, a crystalline substance, has the most wonderful odour of fresh air and water with hints of watermelon. It set the stage for the '90s after its patent expired and it began to enter mass production. Fragrances of especial interest were Issey Miyake's L'eau d'Issey (1992) by Jacques Cavallier, Pierre Bourdon's Cool Water for Davidoff (1988), and Aramis New West For Her (1990) by MANE's Yves Tanguy with its 1.2% overdose.

Calone® Plus is a Fraterworks® manufactured 50% dilution of Firmenich's quality of this aroma chemical fortified with traces of other materials to round it out and boost its performance. This product is easy to use because it comes in a liquid form, making it a cinch to add to your formulas.

Warning: This is a raw material for the manufacture of perfumes. Do not consume. Do not apply directly to skin. Keep out of reach of children.

Fraterworks® is strictly a reseller of this product and is neither an agent nor official distributor for Firmenich.

    General Information

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.

All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.

    IFRA Standards

    Permitted amounts in finished product:

    IFRA 51: 100%
    IFRA 49: 100%

These are derived from calculated concentrations which do not replace chromatographic quantification on individual lots. Disclaimer...

    For Trade Use Only

Our products are intended as building blocks in the perfume creation process; they are not to be applied to the skin undiluted.

These raw materials are for use by the perfumery trade only.
