Open the tin, not the teapot. Tea Black SFE smells of the dry leaf itself: leafy and hay-like, with tobacco and a gentle smokiness, an astringent, tannic edge and a fresh, spicy lift running through it. Extracted with carbon dioxide rather than hot solvent, it stays true to the leaf.
Use it to bring a smoky, woody dimension to compositions. It anchors tea accords with the realism of the leaf, deepens leather and tobacco themes, and gives chypres and orientals a dry, tannic backbone. A little in a rose or osmanthus heart lends the thorny, bitter darkness of tea rose.
Bergamot on top gives you Earl Grey; cardamom, cinnamon and a touch of vanilla turn it toward chai. For a smokier direction add a trace of birch tar or guaiacwood. With osmanthus and violet leaf it slips into a floral-leather, and beside oud or labdanum it turns dark and contemplative.
Tea CO2 extracts are famously difficult to work with, so Firmenich supplies these ready-diluted and fully mobile in ethanol.

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
