    CAS: 78-69-3 Classification: Heart Note[i]

Tetrahydrolinalool opens with sweet, soft floral character—gentler and less green than linalool, more powdery and delicate. The lily and lilac facets provide naturalistic freshness, while bois de rose undertones add subtle woody warmth. A distinctive tea-like nuance and clean oily quality complete a profile that feels refined and transparent. It works beautifully in muguet, lily, lilac, mimosa, rose, and jasmine compositions at levels from 1–8%.

Work with tetrahydrolinalool at up to 30% of your concentrate where stability is paramount. The 12-hour substantivity on blotter means it functions as a fresh top-to-heart modifier. While slightly weaker than linalool, its superior durability more than compensates in functional applications. Blend with other stable florals for tea accords, aromatic fougères, and transparent citrus compositions.

    Linalool, Dihydrolinalool, and Tetrahydrolinalool Compared

These three materials represent a spectrum of stability versus olfactory intensity. Linalool is the most potent and complex—fresh, floral-citrus with distinctive rosewood character—but it's vulnerable to oxidation and it must be declared as an allergen in the EU.

Dihydrolinalool sits in the middle: having better stability than linalool while retaining a bois de rose-woody character with subtle blueberry and citrus facets.

Tetrahydrolinalool is the most stable of the three—it survives harsh detergent and soap bases where the others would degrade, and it requires no allergen declaration.

The trade-off is intensity: linalool is the strongest, dihydrolinalool somewhat milder, and tetrahydrolinalool the softest and most diffuse.

Choose linalool for fine fragrance impact, dihydrolinalool for functional applications needing some character, and tetrahydrolinalool when maximum stability matters most.

    General Information

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.

All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.

    IFRA Standards

    Permitted amounts in finished product:

    IFRA 51: 100%
    IFRA 49: 100%

These are derived from calculated concentrations which do not replace chromatographic quantification on individual lots. Disclaimer...
