Cedrenyl acetate opens with dry, polished woodiness — cedar made quiet and wearable. Vetiver-like depth and subtle amber-balsamic warmth sit beneath the surface. Distinctive peanut and waxy facets give it a rounder, greener character than cedryl acetate crystals.
This is a fixative above all else — four hundred hours of substantivity makes it one of the most tenacious base notes you can buy. Use it to anchor fougères, chypres, and woody orientals with dry cedar depth that never overpowers. It extends top-note life from below without colouring the composition.
Combine with vetiver and patchouli for rich woody bases, or add to sandalwood accords for dry cedar structure. It rounds out amber and oriental compositions with quiet woody warmth. Dose generously at medium strength — cedrenyl acetate rewards bold use.
Cedrenyl vs Cedryl Acetates
Three products share the cedar acetate family, each with its own character.
Cedryl acetate crystals (CAS 77-54-3) are pure cedryl acetate — bone-dry, precise, and solid at room temperature with a melting point around 44°C.
Cedryl acetate liquid (CAS 77-54-3 / 1405-92-1) is a blend of both materials — mixing the two prevents crystallisation, keeps it liquid at room temperature, and produces the broadest, most natural cedar impression of the three. Choose the crystals for bone-dry precision in delicate florals and citrus.
Cedrenyl acetate (this material, CAS 1405-92-1) comes from a different cedarwood fraction and gives a softer, greener, rounder note with distinctive peanut-waxy facets the crystals lack.
Choose cedrenyl acetate for greener roundness and warmer depth. Choose the liquid for versatile, all-purpose cedar character.

General Information
General Information
Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
