Synonyms: Cedar camphor, Cedrol Classification: Base Note[i]
Cedrol crystals open with an almost imperceptible whisper—pure, high-grade material can seem nearly odourless at first encounter. This isn't a deficiency but rather the material's unique character: a soft, dry cedarwood note so refined it lacks the rough edges of cedar oil. What begins as faintness transforms into extraordinary persistence—400 hours on a blotter isn't unusual. The initial impression reveals clean, dry wood with none of the turpentine sharpness found in crude cedar oils. Subtle sweet undertones emerge only in less pure grades, where trace compounds add faint balsamic nuances. The crystalline form ensures maximum purity and consistent performance.
Use Cedrol at 1-10% as your primary fixative when building fragrances that must last. This alcohol excels where other fixatives fail: in alkaline soap bases, it remains stable while musks degrade; in functional fragrances, it provides tenacity without interfering with fresh top notes. Use it as the invisible foundation beneath woody accords, where it amplifies cedar and sandalwood effects without adding its own prominent character. In floral compositions, it provides structural support that prevents ethereal notes from disappearing. Consider it your "tutor note"—present throughout the fragrance evolution, lifting and supporting rather than dominating.
Cedrol Crystals has a subtle odour profile both when evaluated directly (3/10 strength) and when used in blends (3/10 impact). Useful for adding gentle nuance.

General Information
General Information
Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
