REF: 942628Oud Laos Firbest® is the second of Firmenich's Firbest bases to focus on the wonderful world of Ouds. Compared to the more general purpose Oud Firbest, this Laos version aims to replicate the oils from the territory of Laos—oils known to have a lighter, fruitier and more floral character. Both Firbest bases are very similar to one another but if you are seeking a more modern or broadly appealing type, the Oud Laos Firbest option is for you. It is less animalic, greener and certainly more approachable. It also serves as a good starting point for an accord in the direction of Yellow Kynam.
Natural Laotian Oud is unique among agarwood varieties. The top notes often present an initial smoky, fruity and balsamic intensity, followed by a heart of leathery spice, musky citrus, and warm florals. The dry-down is notable for its smooth, slightly creamy woodiness, which enhances the overall balance and longevity of the fragrance.
Firmenich's Firbest® range contains bases made of both synthetic and natural elements which replicate the scent of a natural extract without containing that extract itself. These bases solve problems often associated with naturals such as extremely high cost or, as mentioned, variability in batch quality.
If you are looking for a 5-star alternative to the Firbest range, we also produce our own Oud Intense™ base which is, in the words of one reviewer: “one of the best oud bases I've tried.”
We also offer Oud Firbest—a more general purpose base, Pretty Oud, a rich animalic but extremely easy to use Oud base, Oud Synth 184007 a lower cost Firmenich base and Black Agar Givco from Givaudan which is really more fantasy than reality.
And for those with the budget for it, we offer Oud Assafi® a glorious (but eye-wateringly expensive) natural Oud Assam wild harvested in Bangladesh. Alternatively you may like the much more frugal Aetoxylon or White Oud oil from V MANE Fils.

General Information
Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.

Some of our products may contain small amounts of EU and IFRA compliant musk ketone. We never use musk xylene, musk ambrette or any other prohibited materials.
