Bay oil from Dominica hits the nose with a bold, sweet-spicy warmth built on rich eugenol. Beneath the clove-like character you find a fresh, almost lemony lift, balanced by sweet-balsamic undertones. The effect is immediately recognisable—warm, rounded, and distinctly Caribbean.
This oil defines the classic bay rum accord that has anchored masculine grooming since the 19th century. It excels in aftershaves and hair tonics, but sells itself short if confined there alone. Blend it with lavender or lavandin for a traditional Rondeletia-type accord, or pair with citrus oils, petitgrain, and ylang-ylang for sophisticated colognes with real backbone.
Push bay oil into modern territory by combining it with oakmoss and patchouli in spicy chypres. A few drops transform oriental bases, adding lived-in warmth without heaviness.
Don't confuse your bays
This West Indian bay oil (Pimenta racemosa, Myrtaceae family) is an entirely different material from bay laurel (Laurus nobilis, Lauraceae family), the culinary herb with a sharp, medicinal, cineole-heavy profile. It is also distinct from pimento berry oil (Pimenta dioica)—commonly called allspice—which shares the same botanical family but produces a rounder, warmer, more cinnamon-clove spice character from its berries rather than leaves.

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
