Methyl myristate is barely there on the blotter—a whisper of waxy petals, faint honey, and the unmistakable fatty-smooth character of orris butter. This is not a material you smell and immediately identify; it is a material you notice when it is missing. That quiet, lipid-rich smoothness is the backbone of what makes natural iris smell so luxurious.
Use methyl myristate to bring waxy realism to orris and iris accords built on ionones and methylionones. It rounds out mimosa, cassie, and tuberose bases with a fatty-floral body that reads as natural and expensive. In powder compositions alongside musks, it provides that soft, skin-like smoothness that separates flat from three-dimensional.
Methyl myristate is the same fatty ester that constitutes much of orris butter's waxy body, so you are effectively adding the structural backbone of real iris without the price tag.

All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
