Flouve is the luxury member of the hay family, and while our Hay Absolute from V MANE Fils is incredibly beautiful, Payan Bertrand's Flouve “Signature” Absolute is sublime. It carries the IG Absolue Pays de Grasse marque, the highest form of certification for fragrance materials grown and processed in Grasse.

Steffan Arctander describes it thus: "[Flouve absolute has] a very sweet, herbaceous, tobacco-like and coumarinic odor. The odor is so rich and so complex that one can keep on finding notes in it. However, the overall fragrance is a sweet, licorice-like, root-like, somewhat mossy-herbaceous like wet underforest and meadows, of exceptional tenacity and high penetrating power. [… U]seful in chypre, fougere, pine, oriental bases, and in traces as a sweetener for dry-woody notes which can be modified in a very pleasant way.”

Flouve blends excellently with bases Artemal™, Suralette™ Extra, Verdantol and Amazonia, as well as with French Lavender Oil, Douglas Fir Needle Oil, Oakmoss Absolutes, Roman Chamomile, Labdanum and petitgrain oils (especially LMR's marvellous Petitgrain Oil Terpeneless). Lovely accords can be made with aroma chemicals Fenchone Alpha, Linalool OxideVetimoss, Azarbre, and Geosmin.

Because flouve absolute is so thick, we now optionally supply it at 10% dilution in Triethyl Citrate Natural making it ISO 9235 compliant.

    General Information

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.

All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.

    IFRA Standards

These are derived from calculated concentrations which do not replace chromatographic quantification on individual lots. Disclaimer...

    For Trade Use Only

    Barn in a bottle

Probably the best Flouve I have ever smelled... At first whiff, I get streaks of dry hay mixed with chocolate. It has gourmand qualities unlike any other hay body. The hay takes me back to the Barn when feeding cattle on the ranch. This material is waiting for someone to express its true beauty.
