Variety: Lavandula angustifolia Folg. Classification: Heart Note[i]
Grown on a single estate in the Hampshire chalk downs, this oil is a quintessential expression of the English landscape. Unlike the sweet, "jammy" profiles typical of Provencal harvests, this variety is defined by a crisp, silver character. It offers an austere, herbal profile that prioritises clarity over balsamic weight, making it the definitive choice for those seeking a traditional, dry lavender.
The olfactory profile is remarkably bright, leaning into a medicinal clarity that provides immediate impact in the top notes. It possesses a refined camphorous edge that lends a soapy, starched-linen freshness to formulations. This lack of heavy sweetness allows the oil to remain transparent and bracing, maintaining its integrity even when used in high concentrations.
For the perfumer, our English lavender provides a vertical, piercing light that is indispensable for recreating 19th-century-style colognes and British lavender waters. It is a functional and aesthetic staple, offering a hygienic purity that anchors a composition in the noble tradition of English horticulture. It is a rigorous, honest botanical.
In contrast, our Signature French Lavender (LMR Provence) represents the height of Provencal luxury, leaning away from herbal austerity and into a profound floral sweetness. While the English variety provides a bracing, vertical top note, this French oil offers a tenacious, "golden" warmth that acts as a link to the heart for fine fragrance.

General Information
General Information
Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
