    Absolutes & Resins

    CAS: 8000-48-4 Classification: Top Note[i]

This material opens with a warm, softly green character that completely reframes what eucalyptus can smell like. The sharp medicinal brightness of the essential oil is gone, replaced by something richer, more textured, and far more complex. What you smell is balsamic, slightly waxy, and herbaceous, with a woody-spiced undercurrent that builds rather than fades.

That depth makes it a natural architect's material: use it to introduce a naturalistic eucalyptus signature without the clinical edge that the oil brings. In fougères and aromatic compositions, it sits beautifully in the heart without overwhelming the structure. Try it alongside lavender, clary sage, or labdanum to amplify its balsamic green facets - it strengthens the accord without demanding the spotlight.

Where it surprises is in fine fragrance. Pair it with patchouli or cedarwood and the by-absolute's resinous, almost leathery warmth comes forward. It also works as a sophisticated counterpoint to bright citrus or ozonic top notes, grounding the freshness with something altogether more earthy and substantial. This is a material that rewards experimentation.

    Odour Profile

This by-absolute bears little resemblance to the essential oil — instead of the sharp, medicinal snap of eucalyptol, you encounter something warm, balsamic, and waxy, with a deep green herbaceous body, woody underpinning, and a spiced, almost resinous finish that lingers long on the blotter.

    Uses

Naturalistic eucalyptus depth for fine fragrance, aromatic, and fougère compositions requiring sustained green-balsamic character.

    General Information

Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.

All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
