Galbanum Resinoid opens with the same characteristic burst of intense greenness familiar from the essential oil—crushed bell peppers, torn leaves, and fresh-cut grass—but quickly reveals its distinctive personality. Where the oil remains sharp and volatile, the resinoid settles into a rich, dark green depth with pronounced balsamic warmth. This thick, viscous material carries the forest within it: coniferous resins, damp earth, and woody undertones that ground its vegetal sharpness in something more profound and lasting.
Galbanum Resinoid is best used at 0.5-3% when you need green notes with genuine staying power and complexity. Unlike the essential oil's fleeting pine-like top notes, the resinoid provides sustained green depth throughout a fragrance's evolution. Its superior fixative properties anchor volatile materials while contributing its own sophisticated woody-balsamic character. Use it as the foundation for chypre green compositions where longevity matters, or to create authentic forest atmospheres that persist from first spray to final drydown.
The differences between Galbanum essential oil and resinoid transform your formulation approach entirely. The oil delivers sharp, penetrating greenness with distinctive pine-like top notes—perfect for immediate impact but lacking persistence. The resinoid trades some of that initial sharpness for profound depth: less volatile, less harsh, more balsamic and woody. Where the oil acts as a fleeting green modifier, the resinoid functions as a true base note with exceptional fixative power. The oil's clean, almost metallic green suits modern compositions; the resinoid's complex forest character enriches traditional chypres and fougères. Most importantly, the resinoid's thick consistency and tendency to resinify demands careful handling—pre-dilution in TEC (as supplied here) prevents solidification while maintaining its extraordinary longevity. Choose the oil for bright green accents; choose the resinoid for lasting green foundations.

General Information
Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
