Synonyms: Absolue de Fève Tonka
Variety: Dipterix odorata Will.
Up until recently, we offered a single tonka bean absolute—the wonderfully gourmand creation from V MANE Fils, known as our Tonka Bean “Signature” Absolute. However, as we embarked on our 2025 evaluations to ensure we continue providing only the finest materials, we made an extraordinary find: this Tonka Bean Absolute from LMR. This deluxe, meticulously crafted extract was too exceptional to overlook, compelling us to add it to our collection. While the MANE Signature absolute captivates with its sticky-sweet, gourmand charm, the LMR Luxe absolute offers a refined, drier profile, perfectly balancing elegant agrestic notes with gourmand delight. Its distinct sophistication justifies offering both side by side and the title Tonka Bean “Luxe” Absolute.
We offer both our tonka absolutes at 10% dilution in pure and natural Triethyl Citrate (an odourless isolate from citrus) or pure. In pure form tonka bean is a solid paste.
In describing tonka absolute, Arctander says: ‘Tonka absolute is a semi solid or crystalline mass of pale amber or pale brownish-yellow color Its odor is very rich, sweet and warm, distinctly coumarinic / herbaceous, with a prune-like, or caramelic-sweet undertone. The odor description “tobacco-like” is somewhat confusing since Tonka tincture has been used quite extensively in the flavoring of cured tobacco leaves. The absolute consists of 20-45% coumarin, but the effect of a true Tonka absolute goes far beyond that of the coumarin contained in the absolute.
Tonka is a fixative and non-floral sweetener which introduces warm notes in chypres, fougères, new mown hay bases, lavender bouquets, Oriental bases, etc. It blends well with: Lavender, lavandin, clary sage, bergamot, oakmoss.’

General Information
General Information
Like most suppliers and makers of quality raw materials for fragrances, we do not filter many of our products. This ensures that no odiferous matter is lost prior to use but can result in the appearance of small particles or slight clouding.
All alcoholic fragrances should be macerated for up to a month and then chilled in a moderate freezer overnight before being filtered fine. This will remove all cloudiness or detritus and is the industry norm.
